Petrol price and the drama in Malaysia. WHAT I WANT ?

Much have been discussed regarding the Rm0.78 increase in petrol price since it was announced by our prime minister on June 8 2007. That was probably the last day you saw the petrol stations displayed a figure of RM 1.92 per liter. I was one of the Malaysian who waited in line to fill in my tank. I was fortunate enough to get the news of the price hike about 5.15 pm, therefore I rushed to the station nearby, I had to wait for about 10 minutes before I got to hold the nozzle to fill my tank up.

Before we go deeper into this affair, let’s just take a few moments to observe this information below.

Malaysian price of oil compared to other OIL PRODUCING countries:

MALAYSIA - RM2.70/litre

UAE - RM1.19/litre

Eygpt - RM1.03/litre

Bahrain - RM0.87/litre

Qatar - RM0.68/litre

Kuwait - RM0.67/litre

Saudi Arabia - RM0.38/litre

Iran - RM0.35/litre

Nigeria - RM0.32/litre

Turkmenistan - RM0.25/litre

Venezuela - RM0.16/litre

We often hear statements’ from the government saying our price is already cheap compared to other nations. Why on earth do you compare to nations that don’t produce oil and say ours is cheaper ? look at the information above, we are on top of the list of oil producing countries. MALAYSIA BOLEH !!!

Reflection time, Looking back at Anwar’s day from 1990 to 1998 as the Ministry of Finance. Our fuel price remained stagnant, RM 1.10 per liter. There was a time where the government increased by 3 cent, but eventually pushed back to its original price due to complains. Today, the oil price stood at RM1.92 per liter. I don’t want to praise Anwar for that matter, but he really did a good job.

Opposition Leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has accused the government of being ‘stupid’ for repeatedly saying that our new petrol retail price of RM2.70 is low when compared to other countries in the region. “As a raw oil producing nation, Malaysia should be compared with other oil exporters I AGREE.

Second dissatisfaction, PETRONAS. It was reported that Petronas made RM45.4 billion sales of crude oil from 192.4 million barrels. To whom these crude oil belongs to? Yes, you and me. Picture this, you stay with your siblings in a house full of antics. You brother and sister sells these antics but the profit never got to you. Some of the profit goes to the beautification of the house. Question, do you want to look good and be poor or look bad but rich? Neither is good. We want balance. So if Petronas gets richer, who/where does it go to?

How much is the RM 625 per year subsidy going to help the public .My car, Proton Iswara 1.3 (M) needs RM 120 for a full tank now when it use to be RM 85. An individual like me who travels a lot, I need one full tank a week. The calculation goes –

One full tank RM 120 x 4 weeks = RM 480.00 a month.

Rm 625 ( rebate ) / 12 months = RM 52 a month.

RM 480 – RM 52 = RM 428

Now it is RM 428

Before it was RM 340

I LOOSE RM 88 a month

I think its high time we have our check and balance system in our country. Pak Lah is doing ‘great things for this country’. He knows that by increasing the petrol price he is just going to create a chaos in the country, and tell me I was wrong, we saw many people complaining and even a small protest. Since when Malaysia started having protest ? since Pak Lah took over. Since when we had such drastic fuel hike ? since Pak Lah became the finance minister. Since when the cost of living started booming ? since Pak Lah became the prime minister. Since when…….. im sure I can go and go, but there no point talking about a leader who is power crazy, he knows people don’t want him anymore, yet, today’s paper reported he wants to defend his UMNO Presidency post.

Im just another Malaysian who just cant accept the fact that im paying RM 2.70 for a liter. But i want something out of complaining and writing about this matter,

I WANT

  1. THE PETROL PRICE TO GO BACK TO RM 1.92 OR LOWER
  2. I WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO GIVE PETROL CASH VOUCHER TO ALL UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE STUDENTS.

That’s the only way the government can win my heart again on this matter.

WHO CARES what you want?

1. You're an Indian.
2. You are you anyway?
3. You don't make a difference in this country.
4. You are only a KLIUC student, not from Oxford like KJ.
5. You have pubic hair on your head.
6. You're a monkey.
7. Government gave you PTPTN, stop being greedy.
8. AFS has sponsored you a lot of events, inclusive of an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles. Ask them for petrol subsidy.
9. There are bigger things to worry about - starvation in India. And you still don't notice how big your stomach is.
10. Just be thankful that our government has not sent you back to India.

Dear Sri Angrevani a/p Appukondon

Thank you for your comment. That was interesting to see how much you are knowledgeable regarding the current affairs in this country. on your argument, i think it makes me look silly if i were to address each of the points, but i shall summarize everything.

Indian, Malay, Chinese or be it aborigin, my qualification, what i do, where i study, my background, doesn't really matter as everyone still pay's RM 2.70 therefore its prudent for me to argue on it.

Be it AFS or my parents who have sponsored me on free trips, that is not the argument here, its how to help me save.

If i cant take care of my self well enough, there is no use of me taking care of ppl in india. I know for a fact the Malaysian government will not send me back to India as in the list, the top one's are Captain Chun, Nazmy and Nantha. The second list has all the clowns like uncle, zack, fuad and so on to be sent back.

Thank you. For further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me personally at my cell. Spank you'll.

There we are arguing the justice of increasing the oil price, there another fella arguing our origins in this country to make the matter worse.

To Sri:

Like Nambee said, origins or place of study is not important. Don't forget that the contribution of the non-Malay in this country is inarguably significant to talk about. So hold your head high to tell the whole world that you're family contributes to the well-being of the country. Don't tell me that your mind is naively thinking the few Malaysia Oxford students gonna change our country when some of them are not even returning to this country that they despise a lot. If you are not going to give a damn about your country, must as well you voluntarily shift back to India with your children to see whether will the government and people there accept you and how you will cope with things there.

Government giving us loans and stuff is the right thing to do, given one of their functions is to take care of our welfare on behalf of the tax that we are paying to feed their bigger stomachs off. So you ARE someone in this bloody country that knows how to make a fool out of citizens like you.

Whether it is an environmental, social or political issue in the overseas - matters at country must be solved first while keeping abreast on those matters. It is practically inefficient to just solely focus on an issue at a time given the myriads of focuses we have and a waste of human intellectual and capacity development if we are to be unable to multitask and approach multiple perspective at a time.

I hope these thoughts will prod something into your brain that is also covered by pubic hair on the exterior.

To Nambee:

Thank you for informing me of your latest post, please continue in the near future.

Our government is very comfortably comparing itself in terms of oil prices among non oil-producing countries. While we are one of the top oil producing countries in the world, US is eventually the top importer AND exporter of oil (that's where we got our oil from ironically) as reported in TIME.

Putting aside environmental issues for awhile, with the factors of costly transportation across half the world and the our-local-oil-very-high-in-quality-so-we-export-ours-and-import-cheaper-one-for-our-use issue, they are not my concerns until now if we are not being able to make a reliable profit behind it that will envelope the whole nation in betterment. So, isn't blueprint of the country's oil agenda need some tweak? We should explore and exploit every possible beneficial plans behind such import-export manner of oil if we were to continue to survive as an oil-producing company.

But yet again, our country leaders are infamously known worldwide of making stupid decisions. Out of RM54billion profit Petronas made last year (and every past year around that figure), RM30billion goes to the government. 30 FREAKING BILLION - what do the government do with it? Heaven knows.

If they are telling me the hike of oil price is justifiable, oh well, please save those bullshits for the coming elections. Because I don't see any substantial and condident outcome behind this move.

After all, 2.74 that's helluva money per litre - the money just gotta roll somewhere - maybe into pockets as usual again.

Dei,

It seems that some people with pubic hair on their head wannabees have taken this personally but with regards, objectively. A few comments have been removed because of this i suppose.

To Cromo:
Dey, I am a proud Indian and India is my origin. Judging by the fact there are more Indonesians in this country than Indians shows we are becoming more of a minority. And if you were the sarcastic type of person you claim you are, then you would have understood that all the posts were made out of pure sinistic sarcasm which reflects the reality of things and whom only people with pubic hair on their head will understand. LOL! It seems there is still a lot you have to learn.

To Ashvin:

Captain Chun, Nazmy and Nantha are pure Indians by nature. However, they cannot return to India because they will be discriminated based on their skin color. One day that will change, once you become the next (and the first Indian) Prime Minister. You will have the previlage of a think tank codenamed 'The Professor'.

Keep up the blogging!
